Hello Sherwood Park Rams Families,
As you know, the situation around COVID-19 is continuously changing and especially in the past two weeks. As the province is moving back to Stage 1, we felt it was a good time to reach out to you again and give you an update on what has been happening with your favourite football club.
April – Skills Camps at Millennium Place
Our volunteers have been hard at work organizing opportunities to get our players moving and back on the field. Keeping up with changes put in place by Alberta Health Services, Football Alberta and Strathcona County we have had to move things, and move them back. If there has been some confusion we apologize, but know that we are doing our best to adapt as changes are made.
All of our Commonwealth Spring Camps have been cancelled as the City of Edmonton cancelled all bookings.
Millennium Place spring camps are still going ahead. As we know, circumstances can change quickly so we may need to shift, change or cancel events. We always try to give as much notice as possible with as much clarity as possible. Keep an eye on our social media channels and your TeamSnap emails for the latest information. If you have questions or concern about any of our spring skills camp dates please feel free to contact your team manager and we’ll do our best to answer and accommodate what we can.
May – Spring Camp/Try-Outs and Season Start Up
In our recent Capital District Minor Football Association meeting we were informed that it is unlikely that we will see any organized competition football between clubs until the fall. This was expected and we are making plans to accommodate practice sessions for our players utilizing our outdoor fields and following all guidelines. We are reviewing current regulations to understand what we can offer our players and families. Updates will be given through TeamSnap. We already have many players registered and new ones inquiring regularly so whatever football looks like this fall the Club is committed to providing the best Rams Experience we can for players.
Girls Tackle Football Program
This year we started the inaugural season of Girls Tackle Football with the help of some great coaches and managers. Due to the lack of competition play this spring, there is a good chance that there will not be the game play we wanted. This is an obstacle, but in life like in football we need to find a way around (or through) them. If your player or someone they know wants try football please reach out to our Girls Tackle Management Team. Albé and Megan are looking to hear from you and we will find a way to get together, have some football fun, learn some skills all while abiding to AHS restrictions. Contact GirlsManager@sherwoodparkrams.com to discuss.
Fundraisers and Bottle Drive
As you may have noticed on our social media, the Rams are still putting on a few fundraisers right now. Given the current fiscal climate we’re all trying our best to make ends meet, and non-profit organizations like the Rams are feeling it too. If you can, and if you are comfortable doing so, please help support your club:
ONLINE 50/50 https://www2.rafflebox.ca/raffle/sherwoodparkrams
It’s a great chance to support the club while winning a nice pot of cash! As of today the
Jackpot was up to $930! There’s about 20 days left to buy tickets so get yours now and share the link around to your friends and family.
BOTTLE DRIVE – April 10th from 1PM to 3PM @ the Bantam Clubhouse
Drop off your extra empties, and ask a neighbor or two, any and all support is appreciated and goes a long way to keeping the programs you love up and running.
Parents and Guardians if you’re looking for a way to get involved with the club please reach out to me (President) directly. The life blood of our club is our volunteers. We have a few immediate needs including openings in our Executive Team and help with fundraisers. As we move forward into the season, more volunteers are needed from helping with BBQs to game day volunteers and we cannot offer a great experience to our players without great volunteers. Email me directly for more information.
I also want to take this opportunity to personally thank all the volunteers who’ve been working tirelessly thorough the off season, putting in the hard work to make sure we put on the best experience we can for the kids involved in our great sport. We’ve had a lot of challenges in the last 13 months and I’m still in awe how much love and effort you all put into this club. I’m grateful to be able to work alongside such committed volunteers throughout the last few years. We couldn’t be where we are today without you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this through and I want you to know that WE ARE HERE TO HELP. We are a Rams Family, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if there is something we can do to help.
Please encourage your players to reach out to their teammates, stay active and exercise regularly, and follow our social media for more ways to keep connected.
